Paul is married to Bridget. They live in Northland, New Zealand, and between them they have four children, seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and two dogs
Paul has an engineering background and has also worked as a mortgage and insurance broker.
In 2010, Paul suffered a significant breakdown and spent some time in respite care and on heavy medication. It was while in care that he was introduced back to his Faith, something he had backed away from in his late teens.
It is through his Faith and counselling and a considerable amount of reading that Paul managed to become free from medications, and he was encouraged by a friend, Johnnie Sherer, to write a book of his own.
In 2018, Paul was diagnosed with stage four bladder cancer and given less than 12 months to live. Paul wasn’t convinced it was time to check out, and through lots of prayer and an opportunity to trial a new immunotherapy drug, nearly s
